Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a form of healthcare that primarily looks at your spine and how it moves. A chiropractor is trained to check for areas of your spine that aren’t functioning properly, and then correct this through a course of chiropractic adjustments. The goal of the adjustment is to improve the connection between your brain and body, which helps to facilitate your body’s ability to heal naturally.

Individualised Techniques

The adjustment is performed either manually or with the use of an instrument. Sometimes you will hear a clicking or popping sound, this is simply the release of gas, like when you open a can of fizzy drink. The specific technique chosen for you is recommended based on your problem, age and preferences.

The adjustment process will be described and explained to you before your first adjustment.
Every adjustment builds on the one before, adding up to significant changes over time.

The majority of our practice members will initially contact us due to their symptoms or pain. The first stage of care focuses on your main complaint and getting you to feel, function and move better. We encourage practice members to actively participate in their care by completing simple home exercises to reinforce the effect of the adjustments on their body.

The second stage, the most important, focusses on strengthening and stabilising your spine and surrounding structures to enable your body to function at its best. This is where we see practice members start to get back to their activities and hobbies to previous levels.

Once you’ve gone through the first two stages, we offer wellness or maintenance care. As the name indicates, this stage is designed to help combat the impact daily stresses have on your body and to keep you at your best.

Once I start chiropractic, will I always have to go?

Plenty of people have heard the commonly held myth that once you begin seeing a chiropractor, you must continue to do so for life. This is not the case, whether you choose regular care, or whether you choose to come back and forth when you feel you need to, whatever your choice, we are here for you.
Does it hurt to get adjusted?

It shouldn’t, and most of the time there is no pain involved in a chiropractic adjustment. Some may notice stiffness or soreness, particularly if the area has been inflamed for a long time. If you have any concerns, just let your practitioner know. You will be walked through the process of an adjustment before getting started.
Does chiropractic cure everything?

No. chiropractic is not a cure. It is designed to make sure your brain and body are fully connected, which encourages your body’s natural healing response.
Does insurance cover chiropractic?

We are covered by most major insurance companies. We will provide you with the necessary invoices and receipts so you can claim directly. We do not bill on your behalf.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?

Some insurance companies request this, please check directly with them. We do not require a referral if you are not intending to claim.
Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

Most of the time, no. There are some exceptions. We will discuss this with you at your initial appointment.
Will you give me exercises to do?

Yes. specific exercises can aid your recovery, these are tailored to each practice member based on their condition.
Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?

Yes. You can get adjusted even if you have had back surgery. If you have any concerns, please ask your practitioner in your initial consultation. Once we have gone through all your relevant information, we will be able to work out which techniques are more suitable for you.
Am I too old for Chiropractic?

You are never too old for chiropractic care. As you get older, you might think it’s inevitable that your mobility becomes restricted. Naturally, our bodies can become stiffer as we age, and our healing processes begin to slow. With regular chiropractic you may have a greater chance of functioning well and being able to do all the things you want to do each day.
